Mission in the Sun

The DeGrazia chapel is located in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains in Tucson, Az. Artist Ted Degrazia built this lovely chapel in the 1950's on his property in honor of Padre Kino and in dedication to Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Ranchos de Taos

San Francisco de Assisi Mission church is located in Ranchos de Taos, Nm. The adobe spanish and native architectural style church was completed in 1816. This beloved church was depicted by  photographers and painters such as Ansel Adams, Paul Strand and Georgia O'keeffe. It is still one of the most highly photographed and painted buildings in the United States to this day.

White Dove

Bobby Lee Krajnik
"White Dove"

This mortuary chapel is part of the San Xavier del Bac Mission. Located about 9 miles south of Tucson on the Tohono O'odham San Javier Indian Reservation, the "White Dove of the Desert" was completed in 1797 and is the oldest intact European structure in Arizona.  I found the chapel so lovely that I wanted to paint it. If you are ever in southern Arizona, the mission is a must see!

Dream Come True!

SOLD

Bobby Lee Krajnik
"Dream Come True!"
6 x 6 x 1.5" inches

San Miguel chapel is the oldest church in Santa Fe, Nm. and possibly the oldest church still in use in the United States. I have simplified this painting and used a lot of contrast in color and value.  I've named this painting "Dream Come True!" for the New Year. I wish all of you a Happy New Year and that all your dreams will come true in 2014!

Live Your Dreams

Bobby Lee Krajnik
"Live Your Dreams"
10 x 8 x 1.5"
oil on board

This church painting is based on one of the California missions along the El Camino Real. The mission suffered severe damage after an earthquake. I found the cracks in the facade very interesting and wanted to accentuate them and portray some of the history.
