Journey Within

personal collection

Journey Within
6 x 6 x 3/4"
original oil on board
Bobby Lee Krajnik

The inspiration for this little painting is an adobe mission in San Miguel, California. The original structure was built in the late 1700's, but was later rebuilt and completed in 1821 after a fire destroyed the earlier church. In 2003 an earthquake hit the area and severely damaged the buildings and closed the mission. The parish is once again operating and thriving following restoration.

I loosely based this little textural treasure on a San Antonio mission.  I've added bright blue accents, lots of texture and magpies to make this a fun little piece!

Adobe church

Adobe Church

This adobe church painting is loosely based on the Mission of San Acacio in the San Luis Valley. Built in the early 1860s, it is considered one of the oldest standing churches in Colorado. I thought it was the oldest but upon further research I discovered several churches claiming the same. I'll just leave that up to the historians and continue with my paintings.

A Place of My Own

A Place of My Own
6 x 6 x 3/4"
oil on cradled board

SOLD

I imagined this little mission about ten years ago and have painted several versions of it over the years. I have been told it resembles a church in New Mexico. I have not seen it yet, but hope to someday stumble upon it during one of my jaunts to the Taos area. I have just returned from a trip to Santa Fe and Taos where I met some truly amazing artists, viewed wonderful architecture and gazed upon spectacular landscapes. I am returning even more inspired and ready to paint!

This is one of my favorite paintings! This tiny little chapel resides near Morada, New Mexico. I have painted this little treasure before and I'm sure to paint it again! You can see the red undertone painting peeking through, and some nice texture as well.

SOLD

Along the high road to Taos lies the village of Truchas New Mexico. This charming hispanic settlement was founded in 1754. The chapel, Nuestra Señora Del Segrado Rosario is dedicated to Our lady of the Rosary. Truchas is also the location of Robert Redford's 1988 filming of The Milagro Beanfield War. I love this movie!

Tranquil Dreams

SOLD

"Tranquil Dreams"
12 x 9 x 1.5"
oil on cradled board

This charming painting is very loosely based on a little chapel in Co'rdova, New Mexico just off the high road to Taos. I've kept some of the architectural features I've also changed a few details, as this is one of my favorite little churches to paint. The church and the town have a wonderfully rich and artistic history.

I love old stone buildings! So, when I saw a photo of this small stone church I thought it would be really cool to paint. And since, I've received some wonderful comments on this piece. Also, I'm going to paint some more of these skinny pieces, they're fun and a little different.

Tribute to O'keefe

SOLD

Send Her My Love
11 x 14"
Oil on Board
Bobby Lee Krajnik

I love the candy colors of this piece. I was having an exceptionally happy painting day when I chose these cheerful hues.  This painting has texture and hints of red popping through the background.  The title "Send Her my Love" refers to my use of a Georgia O'keefe painting as a springboard for my inspiration.
