This vibrant colorful church painting was loosely based on South Park Community Chapel, built in 1874 and located in Fairplay, Colorado.  It is a quaint quirky town and, yes, this is the town which inspired the cartoon comedy series "South Park."  I had to stop and check out the town while passing through and found the darling chapel.

This adobe church painting is loosely based on the Mission of San Acacio in the San Luis Valley. Built in the early 1860s, it is considered one of the oldest standing churches in Colorado. I thought it was the oldest but upon further research I discovered several churches claiming the same. I'll just leave that up to the historians and continue with my paintings.
